Linz Scholarship Established at BGSU Firelands
Huron, Ohio – Bowling Green State University Firelands College is proud to announce the creation of the Margaret J. Linz Legacy Memorial Scholarship.
Linz was a long-time Sandusky resident who began her college career as a non-traditional student working full time as she took course through BGSU at the former Academic Center in Sandusky High School. She continued her studies at the main campus in Bowling Green and eventual earned a bachelor of science degree in education (1965) and a master’s degree in education (1969) both from BGSU.
After graduation, Linz enjoyed a long, fulfilling teaching career in Erie County, starting at Margaretta schools before transferring to the Sandusky City Schools where she taught classes in both primary grades and special education for more than 25 years.
Linz was active in the community and served in numerous civic and educational organizations, often in a board leadership capacity. She was also honored with the Martha Holden Jennings Scholarship in Education for her commitment to her trade.
