Ms. Cara M. Vickery
Position: Director of Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Ms. Vickery began her career as a Radiologic Technologist prior to studying Sonography at Owens Community College. She earned her Bachelors of Science Degree from Siena Heights University and a Masters of Education in Healthcare from St. Joseph's College of Maine. She is currently the Program Director/ Instructor for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Bowling Green State University, Firelands College and a practicing sonographer. She gives back to her profession as a test item writer for ARDMS, site visitor for CAAHEP, and volunteer committee member for the SDMS. She serves a board member for the International Foundation For Sonography Education and Research. She has collaborated with Pan American Health Organization/ World Health Organization for several sonography health initiatives.
Ms. Cheryl Helmke
Position: Clinical Education Coordinator, Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Ms. Cheryl Helmke completed her training to become a sonographer at Owens Community College in 2003 and has worked as a sonographer at Wood County Hospital for fifteen years. She is currently registered with the ARDMS in Abdomen, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Breast and Vascular ultrasound. In 2012 she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration from Mercy College of Ohio. Ms. Helmke is the Clinical Education Coordinator at Bowling Green State University, Firelands College and a practicing sonographer.
Ms. Ashley Ballah
Ms. Ashley Ballah graduated in 2007 with her Bachelor’s degree in Medical Imaging from Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and completed her ultrasound training from The Johns Hopkins Schools of Medical Imaging in Baltimore, Maryland. She is currently registered in Abdomen, OB/GYN and vascular ultrasound with special certifications in NTQR and NB ultrasounds. Ashley graduated with her Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration in 2017. She began her career at The Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio where she practiced High-Risk Obstetric ultrasound in the Maternal Fetal Medicine Department as well as Vascular Sonography at the Heart and Vascular Institute. Currently, Ashley is the Director of North Central Mobile Diagnostics, a mobile imaging company in north central Ohio. Ashley is also an adjunct professor for the Bowling Green Firelands DMS program.
