Welcome to the CCYT Theatre Arts Training! At each of our CCYT Winter Workshops, we emphasize creative discovery through art and imagination. Students explore story, expression and play through a multi-lens approach including visual art, movement, books and song. No experience necessary. Tackle acting, dance, improv and more. New Location: All winter workshops are at 521 Main Street, Huron. $10 per class.

BE AN ACTOR!

Be A Star! Create a character through use of basic motivations, environment, spatial awareness, and ensemble-building. Through improvisation and short scenes, use those skills to take risks, make strong character choices, develop character relationships and pursue objective. We recommend students take this class more than once, as this training builds the foundation for many of our higher level courses (SHOWCASE).
BE A DANCER!
2-3-18, 10:30 a.m. to noon
For beginner dancers who want to make their way into musical theatre. This class will focus on classical technique, musical theater styles, and current dance trends. Learn fundamental musical theatre techniques in jazz, tap and modern dance. Put your new skills into action through choreography and performance, exploring favorite musicals such as Matilda, Hairspray and Once on This Island.
BE A COMEDIAN!
2-10-18, 9 - 10:30 a.m.
Students will enhance their acting skills while working on physical and vocal awareness, including physical comedy and clowning. Through creation, students will learn how to make bigger and bolder character choices and be good scene partners.
BE A SINGER!
2-10-18 - 10:30 a.m. to noon
Explore the fundamentals of proper vocal technique including healthy warm-ups, breath support, control, pitch, diction and projection. Apply your new skills to favorite Broadway tunes and contemporary pop hits.
BE A DESIGNER: SET AND PROP DESIGN!
2-17-18, 9 - 10:30 a.m.
Develop your ability to think and work as set and prop designers as you interpret and create designs for a particular scene of a play. Learn how to obtain a basic, working knowledge of the elements of design; and create sketches, renderings, and models of scenic design.
BE A DESIGNER: COSTUME AND PUPPET DESIGN!
2-24-18, 9 - 10:30 a.m.
Explore costume design and the relationships between theatre, culture, and history. Research different time periods, then work to create a composition period costume using recycled materials. The costumes and/or puppets will be constructed either as a photograph, drawing, graphic design, or dimensional object!
BE AN IMPROV ARTIST!

Make it up as you go! Learn to trust your instincts, make dynamic choices on the fly, and spontaneously create original characters and story lines. For All Ages!
PUTTING IT TOGETHER!
3-3-18, 10:30 a.m. to noon
Work as an ensemble to rehearse a 5-minute musical while strengthening existing acting, singing and dancing skills. Go in-depth on physical and vocal choices, character development and movement.
