Students are encouraged to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). BGSU and BGSU Firelands have the same FAFSA School Code: 003018. View our Financial Aid Checklist for more information on the steps required to receive financial aid.
Please visit Financial Aid for more information on financial aid and student employment. Our Scholarships page is also a valuable source of information for students. Specific questions about financial aid should be directed to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at (419) 372-0655.
Placement tests or standardized test scores are used to determine appropriate placement in classes. Schedule your placement tests with our Academic and Student Services office by calling 419-372-0886 or 1-800-322-4787 ext. 20886. If you have taken an ACT or SAT test within the last year, a placement test is not required.
At SOAR, you will learn more about life at BGSU Firelands, you’ll meet your academic advisor, and you’ll register for classes. You can register for SOAR by calling the Office of Academic and Student Services at (419) 372-0886.
After you attend SOAR and register for classes, you can obtain your BGSU photo identification card (or BG1 Card) at the BGSU Firelands’ main computer lab in room 231 of the North Building. Please be sure to bring a form of photo ID.
Once you have met with your academic advisor at SOAR you can register for classes, and adjust your schedule through your MyBGSU account.
Most commonly, we receive electronic transcripts via Parchment, eScript-Safe, National Student Clearinghouse and Articulation and Transfer Clearinghouse. We are willing to access electronic transcripts through any other secure sites hosted by the sending institution. College officials are welcome to send links to secure site delivery to firstname.lastname@example.org.

All vehicles parked on campus must be registered with our on campus parking system. Parking at BGSU Firelands is included in your General Fee, and registering for student parking will not be an additional cost to you. To register for student parking, open MyBGSU, click "Manage Parking Account" on the left under "Misc. Services", and then click "Get Permits" under the Permits tab at the top of the page. You will then follow prompts to register for your permit.
Professional staff meet with students to provide services, support, and referrals for students with disabilities. Appropriate academic accommodations are determined based on a student’s documented disability and individual needs. There is no deadline to register with us. However, if you would like to receive accommodations you must register with our office prior to receiving them. We strongly urge admitted students to submit their documentation before the start of the semester, as the review process can take several weeks. You can register for accessibility services by calling (419) 372-8495.
“To Do List” items are typically requests from Student Financial Aid for the student to submit required documentation or complete a process required to continue the financial aid process. An example of an outstanding “To Do List” notification is a request for federal tax return transcripts as part of the verification process.
To determine if there are outstanding “To Do List” items or “Holds” that could prevent aid from disbursing against a Bursar bill, students log on to MyBGSU, click on “Financial Aid Status” and review the “Holds” and “To Do List” sections.
