Ms. Tamara J. May Biology Coordinator Department of Natural and Social Sciences B.G.S.U. Firelands College

Ms. Tamara May joined the faculty of Firelands College in January 1994 as a part-time Instructor of Biology. She received her B.S. in biology, cum laude, in 1983 from Marietta College. Ms. May earned her Comprehensive Science Certification, grades 7-12, in 1986, and her M.A. in secondary education from the University of Toledo in 1988. She has also completed fifty graduate hours in biology/microbiology at The Ohio State University.

In 1998, Ms. May was hired as Biology Coordinator, a full-time administrative staff position, at Firelands College. The responsibilities of her position include teaching introductory biology courses, preparing materials for the lab sections of the biology courses offered at Firelands College, and tutoring biology and chemistry students in the Teaching and Learning Center.

Prior to Ms. May's position with Firelands College, she was a high school biology teacher with Toledo Public Schools for five years. She has also taught biology courses at the introductory, graduate and professional level for The Ohio State University and for Marietta College as a teaching assistant.
