ARCHIVAL SOURCES FOR WOOLSON STUDY

There several institutions holding primary and secondary documentary material on Woolson's life and work.  Woolson House and the Department of Archives and Special Collections at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, and the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, Ohio, are two important sites. The Claremont Historical Society in New Hampshire has part of Woolson's library, as does Rollins College.  Other books were scattered.

Two promising collections that have not been investigated are Henry James's books at Harvard and the Leon Edel papers at McGill University in Montreal.  These and other archives that need detailed exploration are listed in the "Unexplored Archives" page of this website.  Some have been checked for letters listed under Woolson's name; additional documents and references may be present. Other archives have not been checked.
