Overview
In addition to supporting faculty and staff with with a variety of hardware, software and information requests, Web Services
is responsible for:
- Maintaining and developing all aspects of the BGSU Firelands Web presence including the design, accounts, server log analysis,
and server maintenance.
- Cooperation with the Office of College Relations and the BGSU Office of Marketing and Communications to integrate current
marketing and recruitment information and assets into the BGSU Firelands Web.
- Support, training and problem resolution with regard to use of the My.BGSU Portal and Blackboard Courseware Server.
- Development of Multimedia elements and assets for use by faculty and staff in teaching as well as presentations dealing with
BGSU Firelands
- Support and training on a wide range of Graphics, Web Development and Print publishing software.
- Digital Photography for use in one of our five service priority areas.
The time and development priorities of Web Services:
1. Pages that generate enrollment at BGSU Firelands
2. Curriculum resources (elements for courses, syllabi, etc.)
3. Information regarding Resources and Services provided by BGSU Firelands
4. Information regarding campus events, clubs, and organizations.
5. Individual faculty pages, or development efforts.
Web Analytics
Web Services continues to evaluate the BGSU Firelands web site with an eye toward analytics data and the goals of the college.
BGSU Firelands Web Server Accounts
Individual web accounts are available for BGSU Firelands Faculty, Instructors, and Lecturers. To request an account activation,
fill out a Work Request Form with the Office of Technology Support Services. Our staff will then set up your account and provide
you with instructions on posting your information to your account space.
Digital Imaging / Photography and Design Services
The student-professionals who work in BGSU Firelands Web Services can engage in a variety of digital media development activities
as well as digital photography.
Firelands Web Page Problems
Problems or errors with the BGSU Firelands Web pages can be reported using the Web Page Problem Report Form. Note that this is not for submitting Work Requests for updates, additions, or removal of content. Nor can Web Services directly
modify any pages located on the main (www.bgsu.edu) web site.
