BGSU Firelands Scholarships for new and continuing students
BGSU Firelands offers additional scholarship monies to our students. In the 2006-07 Academic year, BGSU Firelands awarded over $140,000 in scholarships. Awards ranged from $250 Book scholarships to one full-tuition scholarship. Scholarships are based upon outstanding academic achievement, service and talent, as well as financial need in some cases.
BGSU Firelands scholarship applications are available January 1. The application deadline is May 1. Students must have submitted an application for admission by May 1 to be considered for a scholarship. You may go to our BGSU Firelands On-line Scholarship Program Application and apply.
Focus Scholarship Program
BGSU Firelands seeks to recruit students to participate in the FOCUS scholarship program which is designed to encourage students who are historically under-represented, or major in under-represented programs, at BGSU Firelands.
A special application can be obtained in the Office of Admission (Room 100, West Building). Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 high school or previous college grade point average. Applicants who graduated from high school within the last three years must have a minimum ACT composite score of 19 or SAT score of 820. Applicants must be admitted to the University and have completed an annual application for federal and state grants using the FAFSA by May 1 for the following academic year. Any federal and/or state grants received by the student will be used first in the payment of instructional/general and lab fees. The FOCUS scholarship provides for any remaining fees. FOCUS students must enroll for a minimum of six credit hours of coursework for each semester of the academic year in which the award is in effect. Program participants must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.
Tuition scholarships for the FOCUS students will be provided by BGSU Firelands during the academic years the students attend BGSU Firelands classes. At the point of transfer, the University will provide the scholarships as it has done for the MIND program (Minorities in Education).
BGSU Automatic & Renewable Scholarships for entering freshman
BGSU is currently evaluating the automatic and renewable scholarship program. If you plan to apply to BGSU Firelands as an entering freshman for fall 2008, check back for specific details.
