| The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) is located on the
second floor of the North Building (230 North). This is where you
can go to get free individual, group, or special needs tutoring.
You can find a wide range of tutors in the TLC. Student tutors are
chosen by their instructors for their expertise in a particular subject.
Also, staff tutors have been employed to tutor in mathematics,
statistics, reading and study skills, biology, chemistry, and word
processing. You will find the Writing
Center in the Teaching and Learning Center. The Writing
Center provides assistance in English courses, as well as other courses
that require extensive written assignments.
The TLC houses the Office of Disability
Services. The main function of disability services is to
provide equal access and reasonable accommodations for students with
disabilities. If you have a need for any disability service, you
need to contact this office each semester to assure that
proper accommodations can be made. Click
here for more information on Disability Services.
The TLC has ten computers that students can use
to access coursework, the internet, or e-mail. The TLC also has many
software resources and CD-ROM tutorials available for student use.
Additionally, the TLC will sponsor workshops throughout the year on
various "study skills" topics. Watch for signs around campus
announcing these workshops.
If your instructor permits make-up examinations,
the TLC is where you can go to take them. Since the TLC has a
limited amount of space available for make-up testing, you are required
to make an appointment prior to taking a make-up test. Contact the
TLC receptionist for more information.
