The Firelands Library employs four to six Student Library Assistants. Mission of the Firelands Library The mission of the BGSU Firelands library is to meet the informational needs of the College community. That community consists of students, faculty and staff of the College and, to a lesser degree, the citizens of the College's service area. The library attempts to meet those informational needs by acquiring information in a variety of formats, by organizing that information for ease of access, by helping people access, interpret and use that information and, finally, by discarding outdated information. Since much of what goes on at a college centers around information - collection, organizing, applying, transferring and even creating it - the library becomes a key element in the college's operation. BGSU Firelands Resource Information The book collection consists of nearly 30,000 volumes. Our collection is classified using Library of Congress call numbers. The Library subscribes to 235 magazines and newspapers, collects materials in micro-formats, and has a strong audio-visual software collection. Firelands Library is a depository library for State of Ohio documents and has a strong collection of U. S. documents. |
