Dr. Ronald M. Ruble
(Artistic Director)

Dr. Ruble received his Ph.D. in Theatre from BGSU. He has worked with children's theatre (directing and teaching) for over 40 years, at the university, community, civic, and summer theatre levels. Dr. Ruble was play director/ business manager for the Huron Playhouse (1966-78) and a teaching artist for Firelands-Arts Unlimited. Dr. Ruble has received the "Distinguished Teaching Award - 1987" (Firelands College), the "Dean's Special Recognition Award" - 1996 for his contributions to the performing arts, the "1998 Marcellus F. Cowdery Educator of the Year Award" by the Erie County chamber of Commerce. His biography is in Marquis Who's Who In the Midwest (1996-97), Marquis Who's Who In America in Theatre & Humanities Education (1998 & 1999), and in Marquis Who’s Who in American Education (2004). A playwright and an award winning poet and fiction writer, his plays Tender Times (1997) and My Father's Father (2000) have been CCCT audience favorites. Dr. Ruble is presently a member of the Emeritus Faculty of BGSU. His book The Pulse of Life is now available at Waldens, Barnes & Noble, Borders, Amazon.com, and Xlibris.com.

 

Dr. Jann Graham Glann
(Choreographer and Music Director)

Dr. Jann Graham Glann is an Assistant Professor of Humanities at BGSU Firelands, and serves as a play director, choreographer, musical director and Business Manager of the Firelands College Theatre Program. As a long-time staff member of The Huron Playhouse, she is currently in her fourteenth year as its Managing and Artistic Director. Jann Received her undergraduate degrees in theatre and music performance from the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, and her graduate degrees from BGSU. She has served as the director of several workshops, adjudicator, artistic advisor, lecturer, and performer in the theatre, dance, and musical arts in various Ohio locations as well as North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Missouri. She has held faculty and theatre staff positions at the Bowling Green State University main campus, The University of Texas at El Paso, and Southeastern Missouri State University. She served as director/choreographer for Huron High School musicals as well as choreographer for Sandusky High School musicals for many years. She is currently in her twentieth year as Director of Music/Choirs at the Huron Presbyterian Church.

 

Mr. David Gilmore
(Scene & Lighting Designer, Technical Director)

Mr. Gilmore received his M.A. degree from BGSU in the area of scenic design. He taught theatre technology at Findlay University as a graduate student. He has designed productions for the Huron Playhouse, the Firelands College Theatre, and for Caryl Crane Children's Theatre. His design credits include: Once Upon A Mattress, Babes In Arms, Tender Times, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, Yankee Doodle, The Lion Who Wouldn't, and Raggedy Ann & Andy. He performed in the title role of CCCT's first Firelands production, The Pied Piper. His experience with the various theatre's has given him 40+ acting credits to date. David also performs at Cedar Point on the week-ends in the Fall. His roles as a storyteller have been very diverse; from the kindly old storyteller of CCCT to the insane narrator of Edgar Allen Poe's The Tell Tale Heart at Cedar Point.

 

Carol Hoffman
(Scenic Artist / Set Decorator, Properties Designer)

Ms. Hoffman received her B.A. degree in art from BGSU. Carol is an accomplished artist and art teacher. She has extensive experience in theatre with BGSU-University Theatre, Firelands College Theatre, Caryl Crane Children's Theatre, and the Huron Playhouse. Carol has worked as an actress, stage manager, properties mistress, makeup designer, costumer, and on set construction.

 

Carolyn R. Griswold
(Costume Designer/Coordinator)

Griswold has been involved with the Caryl Crane Children’s Theatre and BGSU Firelands Theatre since 1991. She has performed on-stage, served as costume designer and house manager and assistant directed. She has also assisted with properties, sound, light and makeup. Involved in theatrical productions since 5th grade, Griswold wrote an adaptation of “Wife of Bath.” She is a past recipient of the Caryl Crane Scholarship for the Performing Arts. She has a bachelor’s degree from BGSU Firelands, where she also received two associate degrees in human services and liberal studies.

 

Martha W. Smith
(Choral Director)

Smith is a retired teacher and served as the McCormick Middle School Choral Director (Huron) until her retirement. She serves in the capacity of Music Conductor for The Huron Playhouse. She has been, and remains, an instrumentalist in musical productions for The Huron Playhouse, the Firelands College Theatre, and the Caryl Crane Children’s Theatre. She is an Ohio Music Educators Association Adjudicator. And, Marty is a Child Assault Prevention Presenter.
