The College
One of Bowling Green State University’s seven undergraduate colleges, located in Huron, Ohio, at the intersection of Ohio Route 2 and Rye Beach Road - one hour west of Cleveland and one hour and ten minutes East of Bowling Green, Ohio. We are only seven miles from Cedar Point in the middle of "Vacationland" Ohio. Situated on 216 acres, four buildings, plant value of $16.1 million.

Academics
- Departments of applied sciences, humanities, and natural and social sciences.
- Certificate programs are available in bookkeeping, business application specialist, management and supervision and small business management.
- Fourteen associate degrees representing 22 areas of study prepare students for transfer to bachelor’s programs or for entry into the job market in a technical or paraprofessional area.

- BGSU Firelands provides the first two years of instruction toward the bachelor of science in nursing degree, serves as the satellite site for the Lorain County Community College associate of applied science in nursing program and, in consort with the University of Toledo Health Science Campus, offers the necessary coursework for RNs to complete the bachelor of science and master of science in nursing degrees. The associate of applied science in respiratory care technology degree is also offered as a satellite program at Lorain County Community College.

- Students can begin one of the more than 200 BGSU undergraduate majors and programs at BGSU Firelands.
- Radiologic Technology program is accredited by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Radiation Protection, Radiologic Technology Section; Respiratory Care program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Applied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP); Health Information Technology program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Health Informatics and Information Management Ecucation (CAHIIM); the Nursing program is accredited by The Ohio board of Nursing and the National league for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
- BGSU Firelands credits are BGSU credits. Bowling Green State University’s accreditation by the North Central Association ensures that credits earned at Firelands are transferable to most other colleges and universities.
Calendar
- BGSU Firelands operates on a semester system with terms beginning in August and January, and summer sessions beginning at various times throughout the summer.
Faculty
- Forty-three full-time faculty (A majority with a Ph.D. or the highest degree awardable in their field).
- All full-time and adjunct faculty have at least a master’s degree, and many of them possess the highest degree in their field of expertise. All faculty members have extensive job-related experience or have gained regional or national reputations in their area of study.

Learning Resources
- The library has more than 30,000 volumes and is computer-linked to libraries on the main BGSU campus and throughout Ohio via OhioLink.
- Distance education technology enhances educational opportunities by providing access to coursework for placebound and timebound students.
- Kiosks and public-access computers located in most campus buildings provide easy Internet access. In addition, there are several on-campus computer labs with a variety of computers and software programs.
- All labs have a fully integrated high-speed data network.
- The Teaching and Learning Center provides academic support to students through tutorial, developmental and supplemental activities. The center provides individual and group tutoring in mathematics, English and numerous other areas in addition to servicing students with special needs. The Teaching and Learning Center also has computers equipped with a variety of software applications to assist students in learning.
- Both computer-assisted and personal career counseling are available to prospective, current and former students.
- Accommodations for disabilities are made with Disability Services through the Teaching and Learning Center upon request.
Student Life

Commitment to Community
- The Cedar Point Center at BGSU Firelands enables Bowling Green State University to provide academic programs, workshops, seminars and conferences that meet the 21st century educational needs of students, business and industry in Erie and Huron counties.
- The Office for Educational Outreach provides customized training programs for area business and industry and offers noncredit and continuing professional development courses, workshops and seminars both on and off campus.
- Through the Cedar Point Center, the college serves as a major interactive distance education and teleconferencing site for area business and industry.
- The Speakers Bureau provides faculty and staff to speak on a wide variety of topics to organizations within the community.
- The Caryl Crane Children’s Theatre Program sponsors classes in theatre arts for children ages 10-18.
- The Firelands College Theatre offers performance and training opportunities for local residents and degree students.
- The 47-acre James H. McBride Arboretum on the northwest corner of campus, with its visitors center, is an educational and recreational facility.
- Senior Adult Grants for Education (SAGE) allows Ohio residents age 60 and older to enroll tuition-free in credit courses on a space-available, non-credit basis.
